Kazakhstan’s Natural Oasis: Borovoye
According to legend, when the Creator distributed nature’s beauty among different peoples, some received lush forests and vast rivers, while others were gifted majestic mountains and serene lakes. The Kazakh people, however, were left with only the endless steppe. Feeling disheartened, they pleaded for a piece of natural wonder. Hearing their plea, the Creator found remnants of picturesque cliffs, clear blue lakes, flower-strewn meadows, and icy springs at the bottom of his bag. He scattered these across the barren steppe, filling the area with vibrant flora, lively fauna, and murmuring brooks. Thus, the breathtaking region of Borovoye came into existence.
Located in northern Kazakhstan between Astana (Nur-Sultan) and Kokshetau, Borovoye is often referred to as the “Kazakh Switzerland.” The area, known geographically as the Kokshetau Heights, features hills and peaks of modest elevation:

The region is adorned with numerous lakes sparkling amidst green forests:
One of the most iconic landmarks is Blue Bay on Lake Borovoye, where Mount Zhumbaktas (Mystery, Sphinx) rises directly from the waters. This mountain is famed for its changing appearance; depending on the viewing angle, it resembles a young woman, an older lady, or an elderly woman.

Beauty Beyond Compare
Borovoye is not just visually captivating but also offers a harmonious blend of forests, mountains, and lakes that creates a unique and healing microclimate. Its scenic allure and soothing environment make it a destination that feels like stepping into a fairytale.

For a stunning escape into nature, Borovoye is a must-visit oasis in Kazakhstan.
