Posted on Tripadvisor HM_from_NHVerified A memorable trip! DOCA arranged a great private tour for us to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The guides were truly excellent. We have travelled extensively, and this was one of the best and most memorable trips we have ever taken. This is a part of the world that should not be missed!Posted on Tripadvisor Mica PVerified Mother and Son travel the Silk Road Off the Beaten Track - 10 Day Uzbekistan Tour If you are interested in the rich, colorful history and the culture of the ancient Silk Road, then the “Uzbekistan Off the Beaten Track Holiday” is the trip that will enchant you and stay with you for the rest of your life. Uzbekistan is not just one country; it is an amazing display of a great many civilizations, their arts, architecture and knowledge in a backdrop of beautiful cities, daunting desserts, rugged mountains and haunting steppes. Here Europe meets Asia, Socialist elements blend with Muslim, Persian, Uzbek, tribal and Zoroastrian people and their rich customs. DOCA Tours carefully and individually arranged a 10 day adventure for my son and I. It was a trip that still amazes me. Our visit to Uzbekistan was enriched by well-informed, polite and thoughtful guides and drivers. The guides were both male and female and that was important in a Muslim country where men do not openly interact with women. Starting in Soviet-style Tashkent, we embarked on a voyage through a hospitable, interesting and cultured country. From a city with both a Soviet and Amir Temur past, we ventured into the indescribable majesty of an ancient fortress, a slave trading centre and a stop for all caravans that traversed the massive Kyzylkum desert. The walled city of Khiva remembers many conquerors and scholars who stopped here along the Silk Road. An early morning walk among the madrasahs (Islamic schools), minarets and mosques felt magical and peaceful. The chill air was quiet as people slept in after early prayers in the fasting month of Ramazan. Our next stop was one of the loveliest, artistic and real cities of Central Asia - Bukhara. Authentic and lively, it is truly a “noble town.” Here we were able to relax in an ancient public bath (Hamam) and rest in a historic family owned hotel that served a spectacular breakfast in an art filled dining room. On our way to the yurt settlement called Sputnik-Navoi we stopped at a ceramics and textiles museum in Gijduvan. It is a paradise for handmade carpets and silk embroidered textiles and clothing. Although it was Ramadan, our host offered us tea and refreshments and showed us the workshops where women were making carpets and men were making various types of pottery. We spent the night in a yurt in the vast desert, awed by the red sand in the setting sun, the fierce looking hairy camels and somewhat intimidated by the vast and deep loneliness of a desert existence. It truly made me wonder how generations of families managed to survive in such a harsh and isolated environment? The next morning with our trusty gentleman guide and driver we climbed the steep, rocky road through the Nuratau mountains. We reached the village of Ukhum and hiked on trails shared by goats and shepherds where the only green trees were in the valley where there was water. We stayed in a family guesthouse with a gracious host and a caring staff. The home was beautifully decorated and the food abundant. We learned how to make traditional steamed dumplings called “Manti.” We observed the ancient way of life in this remote and isolated setting. The only problem was that it was much colder than we had expected. The true jewel of the trip for me was the elegant city of Samarkand. It was like an aria to end a beautiful opera. The city has much to offer to anyone and there is art, culture and architecture galore. It is a clean and safe place to linger. Our trip to Uzbekistan exceeded our expectations and DOCA Tours did a wonderful job of caring for us. They frequently checked on us and asked if we had any wishes. The staff and guides were for the most part well-educated, interesting and thoughtful. Language was an issue in the more remote areas, but I was lucky to speak Russian, a language most people understand and speak. The trip requires some patience and resilience as the distances are vast. If this part of the world appeals to you, give DOCA a try and you will not regret it. With thanks and great memories, Alena Prazak and Mica PrazakPosted on Tripadvisor Arkadiusz JachnaVerified Highly recommend I would like to highly recommend the services of Doca Tours. Everything went smoothly and without a hitch during my 10-day trip to Tajikistan. The excellent communication—both before and during the trip—is particularly noteworthy. I highly recommend them.Posted on Tripadvisor AdventurePhilesVerified Fabulous two month experience in Central Asia DOCA Tours created an extraordinary 60 tour through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for just the two of us, a married couple in their late 60s and late 70s. This was not an easy program to develop as most people visit all five countries in three weeks. We wanted more than highlights of major cities. We wanted to dive deeper into each country. We have many interests when traveling, including history and culture, hiking and relaxing during such a long trip. We wanted to see UNESCO sites and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of each country. Mangystau in Kazakhstan, Issy-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, the gorgeous mountains and lakes of Tajikistan were highlights of our trip as were the beautiful monuments of Uzbekistan and the eye-opening Ashgabat. The many museums we visited were instrumental in our understanding of the history of Central Asia. It’s not easy to put together such an adventure, managing all of the pieces and places to stay. We prefer guest houses and apartments so that we can live more locally which is also something that the normal tour of the region does not do. We are also vegetarian, which requires thinking out of the box in the meat-centric region. But Alexander at DOCA worked tirelessly for several months to put together this program for us. Though based in Uzbekistan, he ably coordinated arrangements with agencies in the other countries. He also had to really scramble to rearrange the schedule when our flight from Bishkek to Dushanbe was cancelled and other issues occurred. He was always available for questions and last minute changes. We immensely enjoyed the trip, a nearly perfect mix of everything we wanted. I highly recommend DOCA for any travel needs in Central Asia.Posted on Tripadvisor meetsunny21Verified Super customer friendly and reliable service Book a day trip to Tajikistan - the driver came on time and spoke good English - their partners in Tajikistan were really good and nice to us - they stopped at every place where we wanted to - next day the drop to the railway station was in the best van I have sat in the country - highly recommended !!!Posted on Tripadvisor Toni BVerified Usbekischer Traum, Einzigartig, Einmalig, Sofort Wieder Unsere 12-tägige Reise durch Usbekistan mit Doca Tours und unserem Reiseleiter Oybek Ostanov war schlichtweg außergewöhnlich. Great 2 week trip in Tajikistan and Pamir Highway ending in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. Excellent customer service and efficiency solving any issues that can happen while traveling. Great communication and attention by Oybek Ostanov. Highly recommen their services!
