Arrival in Tashkent with a different airline is at midnight or early morning. You will be met by your travel guide and taken to the hotel. After breakfast in the hotel, you will start sightseeing in Uzbekistan's capital, Tashkent. On the programme is a tour of the old town, visiting Khast Imam-Complex and the Kukeldash Medrasa. In the famous bazaar next to the Kukeldach Medrasa, traders offer silk, nuts, all sorts of dried fruits, fresh herbs and spices. You can also practise bartering!
In the afternoon, you will visit the Institute of Irrigation and Land Improvement. Since independence, there have been positive changes also in water management. The improvement in irrigation and the rational use of the scant water resources as well as the maintenance and increase of soil fertility is one of the priorities of the country's development policy. Since becoming independent, Uzbekistan has managed not only to maintain its irrigation potential but has successfully modernised and improved its irrigation systems.
Evening flight to Urgench, on arrival drive to Khiva (ca. 35km) – one of the trading towns oft he old Silk Road. Dinner in a local restaurant. Two overnight stays in Khiva.

After breakfast in the hotel, you will visit an agricultural cooperative, which specialists in rice production. In the afternoon, you will go to the old town „Ichan Kala“. On a tour you will see the sites of the „Ichan Kala“: Kunya Ark – the old residence of the Khiva Khan, the medrasa of Mukhammad Rakhim Khan, the Mausoleum of Pakhlavon Makhmud, the Medrasa and Minaret of Islam Khodja, the residence Tosh Khovli and the Djuma Mosque – Friday Mosque, the wooden beam ceiling of which is held up by 212 wooden columns decorated with artistic wood-carvings. A sumptuous dinner with a typical Khorezm Folklore Show in the Toza Bog Summer Palace (at least 8 people) ends this eventful day.

You are free in the morning. Towards lunchtime we drive via the Kyzylkum Desert to Bukhara. While you cross the Amu Darya River and drive through the vast steppes and desert landscape to Bukhara, your travel guide will tell you about the culture and traditions of the 120 different nations in Uzbekistan and about the agriculture of the country. After a long journey (8 hours) you reach the next oasis town – Bukhara. On arrival you will visit a Karakul sheep breeder on a farm. Dinner with a farming family. Three overnight stays in Bukhara.

Today you will see the trading town of Bukhara which is more than 2500 years old and experience its unique magic. Let me just mention the Samanids Mausoleum from the 10th century, the mighty Ark fortress and the Poi Kalyan Complex with what was once the second largest mosque in Central Asia and with the Kalyan Minaret. The fortress was the residence of the Emirs of Bukhara. The latest excavations show that the fortress has been in this place since the 4th century BC. In the afternoon you will visit a farm where cereals and cereal products as well as fruit juice are produced. Dinner in a local restaurant.

After breakfast you visit the museum of the house where Fayzulla Khodzhaev lived and your travel guide will show you the interesting rooms. Then you visit the Bahauddin Nakshbandi Complex which is one of the holiest sites for Muslims, and the wonderful summer residence of the last reigning Emirs. Then on to visit an agricultural cooperative with fruit and vegetable production and livestock breeding. You are free in the afternoon to go shopping in the domed bazaars or relax in a hammam (optional), or take a refreshing drink at the Lyabi Khauz. Dinner in a local restaurant at the Lyabi Khauz.

Today you go to Samarkand. In this magnificent town, the Tales of One Thousand and One Nights will start again for you – but also a visit to the Gur Emir Mausoleum and to the world-famous Registan Square – the emblem of Uzbekistan and to the Bibi-Khanum-Mosque – one of the greatest constructions of its type in Islamic style, are an absolute must. Wander around an Oriental Bazaar. Pyramids of nuts, almonds, pistachios, dried apricots, raisins and all types of fresh fruit such as pomegranates, different sorts of grapes, figs and melons, which were already famous in the Middle Ages, are piled up on the market stands. Smell the spices and herbs. Hatmakers and cobblers call out and offer their wares. A market as colourful and fascinating as life itself. Dinner in a local restaurant. You start the day with a visit to the Agricultural College. Then on to a milk farm with a farming family. Then another operation with fruit and vegetable production and livestock breeding. You are free in the afternoon. Wander through the old town. Dinner is a typical Uzbek meal with Pilaw, at the home of a Uzbek family.

After breakfast, more sightseeing in Samarkand, for instance the Ulugbek Observatory, the grave site “Shakhi Zinda”, a marvellous collection of different mausoleums coated in Timur style with majolica and mosaic tiles. On a visit to a Paper Manufacturer, you will see that centuries-old traditions are still kept alive in Samarkand, where paper is still produced by hand with a traditional process, using fibres from the mulberry tree.
Visit to an agricultural cooperative with cultivation of cotton and cotton products. In the late afternoon, you leave Samarkand and take the fast train “Afrosiyob” at 1700h for Tashkent. Dinner in a local restaurant. One overnight stay in Tashkent.
